OUR HISTORY
Ah Lam Engineering Works was founded in 1960 Mr Hoi Wing Nam and our reputation is built upon being Singapore’s leading centrifugal pump maker.
Ah Lam Engineering Works distinguishes its product split between pre-engineered standard products and fully customised equipment engineered and packaged to order.
In order to control quality and reliability, all processes from casting to finish are done in-house. We demand the highest manufacturing standards for both our pumps and in-house casting facilities as this is imperative for the company’s continued growth and development.
Clients are alway welcome to visit the facility during manufacturing or testing. Lean manufacturing principles ensure that our pumps are always focused on continuous improvement to support our ‘Right First Time’ philosophy.

OUR FOUNDERS
From humble beginnings, we literally started out collecting scraps to make ends meet before finding our niche and passion as pump manufacturers.
Hoi Wing Nam
Our founder, Mr Hoi Wing Nam started his journey working as a construction foreman that builds dams in Malaysia.
In his 3 years deployment there, he realised that pumps were only imported from UK but they not as functional when they are used extensively. Moreover, pump perishables were expensive and they took a long time to come. He came back after the dam was completed and that was when he started ‘Ah Lam Engineering Works’.
His vision was specialising in building/manufacturing pumps that are high quality and would last when used extensively but more importantly being able to serve the APAC market.
Today, 30 years later. His vision still holds.
Ah Lam Engineering Works is known for its quality and sets the benchmark standards for pumps.
In honor of our founder Hoi Wing Nam, all our 6″ pumps are named after him.
Hoi Seng Kuay Ivan
Ah Lam was known for our reliable and more importantly as a company that always delivers. Ivan was the brawn of the company, after his father’s passing. He shouldered all the on-site repairs and on-site installation of Well-point. He ensures that all service issues are resolved promptly, effectively and efficiently in an effort to maintain positive customer relationships.
Ivan helped modify and co-created the 8″ pumps and made them popular in the market and in honor of him, our 8″ Pumps are named after him.
Hoi Seng Chee Peter
Peter on the other hand was the brains of the company.
Since Ivan was busy doing repair. Peter took on the role as indoor sales as well as machinist. He picked up skills from walk-in customers at a very young age from his father and his skillset as a machinist helps him better understand what they required.
Peter made several creations and major improvements to our pumps but notably known for his work on the hydraulic power-pack. Today, you can see our power-packs in Singapore , Brunei and Malaysia mainly on vessels as ballast pumps, oil & gas sector as portable oil transfers or waste management firms for sludge removal.
In honor of peter, all our hydraulic power-pack are named after him.
